Hello There.
I'm Garry, photographer here at - you guessed it - Garry Worrall Photography. I work with individuals and families to create true-to-you photos that you'll love for years to come. There are a lot of talented photographers out there, so you've got options, but why am I the right one to tell your story? Let me share a bit about myself so you can get to know me.
I’ve had quite a few jobs in my time. I’ve worked in retail, call centers, factories, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and even as a health and safety coordinator at a community center, a role I loved. I carried my love of photography during all these jobs and always dreamed of it being my career. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I had plenty of time to think. I realized I wasn’t happy with where I was, or what I was doing for a paycheque. There was no future, and I was giving up way too much in my life. I needed a change.
Fortunately, with support from my family, I have the opportunity to go after what I want. So I am. This journey has allowed me to spend more time with my loved ones, and create genuine satisfaction from my work. Each challenge has been a chance to learn. Each setback has made me stronger. Each success has brought me joy. I’m finally walking the path of being a photographer, and I couldn't be happier.
I don’t have a strong fashion sense, I prefer jeans and a sweater for my ideal look, as it makes me feel comfy. I want you to feel the same way. For about 99% of people, being in front of a camera can be very awkward. Meeting someone for the first time, and having a camera pointed at you can make you feel on edge right away.
That's why I believe in the importance of a meeting before our session, either face-to-face or virtually. This first exchange is a chance to learn what we are about and what we want from the session. My goal is for you to feel as comfortable with me and my camera as you do in your favorite spot (or a close second). When you're comfortable, you're relaxed. When you're relaxed, you can be yourself. When you're yourself, we capture the real you in the photos.
Dealing with anxiety and self-doubt, my brain is always thinking, over-thinking and skipping from thought to thought, especially if I'm trying to sleep (All with Simpsons playing in the background… which happens to other people, right? Right??!) I have a crude sense of humour, and making childish jokes comes in handy when getting folks to relax, and gets a good laugh out of ‘em.
The here and now is very important to me, but I like thinking about the future. Visiting Japan and seeing a different culture is something I dream of. Swimming in a shark cage (I'm terrified of the open water) and driving across Canada are things I want to cross off of my bucket list.
At times I’ve known what it's like to feel apart from life's moments, and I want to help you feel part of those moments again.
My Truth
I like to believe that money doesn't define success. Money can solve problems, but happiness in myself and in my life are what I'm after.
No one succeeds alone, and I wouldn’t want to.

My family, and my photography for sure, but also making sure I slow down and enjoy life. I don’t want things, big or little, to pass me by. I also want to teach my daughter it’s ok to not to be perfect if you're happy.

My daughter's laugh is the best sound in the world. Even at my lowest points, she can always make me smile, cheer me up, and make my day better. Also, Game Grumps compilations on YouTube.

Stan Lee. The force of nature that was his creativity has made such an impact on the world. I’d like to learn what it was dealing with that pressure, handling self doubt, and how to turn an idea to a icon.
Christopher Reeve. I would like to thank him for helping to shape my worldview of what it means to be kind and helpful. He showed me what a hero can be, no matter what their abilities are.
Christopher Nolan. I would love to his hear thoughts on visual storytelling, creating original ideas in the modern landscape, and incorporating old-school techniques with modern technology.

The Catcher in the Rye. I read it in high school, my English teacher brought us copies, because it wasn’t on the approved reading list, and it showed me the importance of being true to who you are. When I was younger, I was always trying to be different things, to different people, at different times. It was exhausting. After reading Catcher, I worked to move past that behaviour and worked to accept who I am, and what makes me happy.

I grew up with Classic Rock, so that will always have a special place in my heart. I also enjoy Metal. My playlists jump around quite a lot. On shuffle, it’s very easy to go from Disturbed, to Queen, to P!nk, to Fleet Foxes. My all time favourite bands though are Led Zeppelin, Tool, Rush, and The White Stripes.

I’ve always wanted to learn to play music. I’ve tried before, with a few different instruments, but it just never clicks. My brain just doesn’t seem to be wired to play music. My wife is a musician, and it fascinates me when she’s with other musicians how they can just start playing music together. It feels like magic.
